OASIS

Haviland created the Relief Oasis collection in 1998. The Oasis pattern is cleaned-lined and delicate: two borders framing a band of solid color. The Axelle border on the edge of the plate is echoed by a second border of graded conical elements resembling stylised bunches of dates. A complex technique gives the Oasis pattern extraordinary refinement and the illusion of an incrustation, although it is entirely produced on the surface. The relief is printed, then fired, and finally filled with mixed gold.
